Frequently asked questions

Using a mainland-China (CNIPA) or Madrid-China trademark for Amazon Brand Registry.

Is a Chinese trademark accepted by Amazon Brand Registry?

Yes. CNIPA is among the trademark offices Amazon recognises. A registered China trademark can be used to enrol on Amazon's marketplaces; select the China (CNIPA) office and enter the registration number.

Can I enrol with a pending China application or the acceptance notice?

Amazon's policy also accepts pending marks from recognised offices. In practice, whether an early CNIPA application number is taken varies by marketplace and review timing, so the registration certificate remains the reliable route. We can confirm what your target marketplace currently accepts.

What is the acceptance notice (受理通知书)?

It is issued roughly 2–4 weeks after filing and gives your application number. It confirms CNIPA received the application — it is not a registration and does not itself guarantee Brand Registry acceptance.

Why was my brand name rejected?

The text must match the trademark exactly — spelling, capitalisation, spacing and punctuation. "GREENLEAF" vs "Green Leaf" is a mismatch and is the most common rejection. Use the match checker before submitting.

I have a Madrid/WIPO registration designating China — which number do I enter?

Enter the WIPO number in the Madrid field, not a CNIPA number, and not in the ordinary national-office field. Putting it in the wrong place is a frequent cause of rejection.

Who must submit the enrollment?

The brand's rights owner, internally affiliated with the brand. A manufacturer, distributor or reseller cannot enrol on the brand's behalf. Make sure the trademark applicant and the Brand Registry submitter are the same entity.

Should I let my Chinese factory own the trademark?

No. If the factory owns the China mark it controls your brand there, and you cannot enrol as rights owner. File in your own entity through an independent CNIPA-recorded agent.

How do I get the Amazon verification code?

Amazon sends it to the registered rights holder / recorded agent. We receive and forward it promptly so you can finish enrollment.

How long does the whole process take?

A smooth China application is about 6–9 months to the certificate (~1 month to acceptance, ~4–7 months substantive examination, then publication). File well before your Amazon launch.

My mark was refused or cancelled — can I still enrol?

Abandoned, refused, expired or non-use-cancelled marks do not qualify. We can check the status and advise on a review, restoration or refiling.

Need the China mark done right for Amazon?

We file in the exact form Brand Registry requires and forward your verification code.
